Whither art thou, inocuo?

So, obviously updating a blog isn’t number one on my list of stuff to do these days. I’m considering what I’m going to use the domain for, but expect to see some changes in the next month or so.

Festive Season!

So the festive season is complete, and I’m back at work.

I had a really good festive season. Spent some time with the family, and time with Trang’s family as well. Spent an awesome couple of days with my dad, beginning construction of a new entertainment cabinet, which became particularly relevant later on in the holidays. Now all I need to do is finish it!

But I am, as you can see from my gamercard, really enjoying my 360. Especially since I bought a 42″ LCD 1080p TV. It. is. AWESOME.

It’s a Hitachi L42X01, in case you care, and I’m pretty happy with it, as you can tell. However, the HD tuner built in has a baffling omission: you can’t delete single channels from its database. Which means that I’m currently stuck with 20-odd channels of crap I don’t care at all about, with about 10 channels of crap I care slightly about.

I’ve also just ordered a component cable for the original xbox today – I don’t know if I’ll try to move my movie-playing functionality over to the 360 or not – probably not at this point.

New look for inocuo

So, you may have noticed I’ve updated the theme.

If your browser looks broken, get a new one.

:)

Awesome birthday is awesome!

So, I had the best birthday EVAR!

Awesome presents, great party, and great friends made for an excellent birthday weekend!

Plus, I’m an Xbox 360 owner now. WOOOOOOO!

This image is from 4chan’s /co (comics) board. I think it’s completely, and utterly true.

The Adventures of Dr McNinja – UPDATED

I don’t think it’s possible for an image to contain more win than this.
Dr McNinja
I sure hope I don’t get Paul Bunyan’s disease and transform into a giant lumberjack!

And I wish I had a gorilla receptionist!

UPDATED – I stand corrected.
Dr McNinja is a webcomic. Rock on.

Site update?! WTF!

Yes, I haven’t been posting a lot for a long, long time. I think that it’s to do with a lack of focus on exactly what I want to use this site for.

When I first started a blog using Blogger, back in 2000, there weren’t the easy social-networking style sites that exist today. Now, due to my penchant for signing up for stuff, I have this site, a LiveJournal, a Facebook, and a picasaweb for photos.

So I need to think about what the hell I’m using this site for. I’m not going to get rid of it – 7 odd years of history are not thrown away lightly. I am going to give it a redesign, get a bit of Web 2.0 action going on hopefully, and start using it more for howtos and so on for technical stuff, and try and keep life-update stuff to a minimum, or on other services.

TIME PARADOX!

Haha! No updates in a long time means it’s difficult to start a post again, but I’m short-circuiting that by making references to the problem in question. Self-referential, no?

Anyway, I’m stoked because my email got published in The Escapist. Wooo.

But I upgraded my PC, so that it now runs FEAR super nice. There’s just something about nailing a guy to a wall in slow motion that makes me feel better after a day of fixing stupid people’s problems. A cutting people in half with a shotgun is cool too.

Long time between drinks (or updates)

So, if anyone actually still reads this blog, you’ll have noticed I haven’t updated in a while. As I mentioned last time, I started a new job, and that’s absorbed almost all my mental horsepower for the last couple of months.

inocuo.org has now moved to a new server, though. I’m hoping that I might be able to get creative and finally redesign again, although just posting more regularly would be a start.

The other thing that’s been burning a lot of my time is WoW. It’s endlessly absorbing. I haven’t even picked up the xbox controller for ages, and the PS2 is languishing in a box. The PSP only gets pulled out on the rare morning I’m not driving to work.

That’s the weirdest thing about the new job – driving to and from work means that the time I used to have to read and reflect is now gone, replaced with time to curse at stupid drivers and listen to stupid radio shows. It’s surprising how much difference this has made to my life in general.

Shit is definitely happening

So much shit going down at the moment that I don’t know where to begin. So I won’t. I’ll post more about everything later.
