I watched the tail end of ‘Robbie Williams live at the Albert’ last night when I got home from work (about 10pm), and was actually quite impressed. He does a surprisingly good job of singing crooner songs, especially live. There was just the right amount of noise and slight imperfection to make it clear that yes, he was actually singing, which in its own turn was somewhat surprising.

Here is a rather amusing little flash movie – there’s just something about seeing Skeletor dancing to YMCA in chinese that’s quite amusing. Those of you who don’t have speakers at work, sorry.

A number of things of interest today: (links from Metafilter)

A very disturbing letter from a guy who shot and killed three people and himself at a college of nursing in Arizona. It’s one of those things that are compelling, but saddening at the same time. I’d suggest that, if your day is going well, leave it alone – it’s a major downer.

A much more edifying link to a list of Folklore and Mythology stories online, grouped by category. Great categories include: ‘Breaking Wind: Legendary Farts‘, which doesn’t need much explanation, and ‘Devil’s Bridge Legends‘, where the devil builds a bridge for mortals, but is tricked out of the human soul he expected as payment.

More disturbing are: ‘Death of the Seven Dwarfs‘, a folk legend from Switzerland with an ending quite different from that of the familiar fairy tale “Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs” by the Grimm brothers, and ‘The Hand from the Grave.’ Legends from Germany and Switzerland about wayward children whose hands, following their death and burial, refuse to stay buried.
